I was headin out to get my first cheesesteak of the day when I heard my neighbor Tina yelling from down da street. I did a quick recollection of last night’s events and figured (for once) it wasn't me. I went ahead and started to climb into my IROC when she finally caught up to me. Out of breath, Tina managed to tell me her dog “Daisy” ran away and needs some shmo to ride her around and look for him. She also explained she knew I had no job, no life, no girlfriend, so I ain’t got better to do then cart her around. After a few dirty looks I threw her way and a couple “cmons” she trew my way, we decided to find dis little bastard. Long story longer we drove around for about a hour and a half when we caught up wit “Daisy” trying to cross Broad Street (wit dis girl’s attitude I can’t blame da dog). Well I figured for my time and effort as da chivalrous guy I am this at least deserves a meal....on her. After a few more dirty looks from Tina and some more “cmons” from me, I decided on the Artful Dodger. Da Artful Dodger? Well everyone knows the only thing I am artful at dodging is work. After droppin off Daisy we sat down for some lunch at ole dodger on Head House square. I only ever make here for lunch (breakfast for me) because of my busy night life hitting strip clubs and buffets. The menu offers a great selection of appetizers and sandwiches as well as some good English specialties; da pies (chicken and sheppard) are bangin. As far a food goes (pretty far if you have seen my belly) da Dodger has some great grub all around I have yet to find a disappointing morsel. I usually get some chili or Maryland crab dip, both of which are outstanding. If you are in da mood for a sandwich I highly recommend da headhouse beef. Dis sandwich consists of roast beef topped wit spinach and cheese wit a side of fries that you can get Spanish, bacon or regular. Da dodger has both a bar and a restaurant area so you could come in here and watch da football game or gorge yourself in peace. Da décor is warm and inviting (not like me at all) it kinda reminds me of an English tavern somewher over...der. Tina also mentioned to me that this place also has a porterhouse steak night on Thursday’s, which sparked my interest. So I asked her if she wanted to have another date dis Thursday but she had to regretfully declined. Anyways, Da Artful Dodger is a great little spot near Head House square, if yous in da neighborhood, check it out.
Da prices for da dodger are fair but not cheap, pretty much on da same level as everyone around south street. But since they offer some nice specials during da week they get a little play here. What dey need to do is throw a few bucks into a new website, ouch.
Parking in da Society Hill area is brutal at best. Unfortunately, da Dodger doesn’t have valet or a lot down here. Cab it.
