Being one of da most recognized guys in da city is tough enough as it is, but when you are constantly in da public eye performing (in my case drinking and eating) it’s tough to take a break when you just don’t want to deal wit high profile garbage. I was talkin to my buddy Frankie ‘knuckles’ at da newsstand and he was tellin me about a great spot that often overlooked in Queen Village, LA Creole. LA Creole might not have da street presence that I obviously do, but their food packs a wallop that goes way beyond me straightin someone out. Da inside of dis joint looks more like a club or a VFW then a bar from LA but quite frankly dis didn’t bother me. Seating is limited with only a couple booths and tables towards da back, but there is a decent sized bar area. I approached da bartender and asked him Yo cuz, whats so LA you know, Los Angeles about dis place? He gave me a weird look and explained to me LA stood Louisiana not Los Angeles… so yes, before I even got my first drink I made a fool of myself. I told da bartender I wasn’t here for a geography lesson and told him to make me a dewers on da rocks. I then sat down in booth that felt like it was made for child and opened a menu to peruse their Cajun entrees. One ting I like about LA Creole is da relaxed atmosphere, dis place is simple, no gimmicks, and certainly no bullshit. Da owner/cook Billy takes pride in bringing his southern fare to da city of Philadelphia and I appreciate that he does. His menu encompasses both Cajun and American dishes along wit an assortment of sandwiches that range from Po’Boys to cheesesteaks. Unlike my grades in high school da wings at LA Creole are outstanding which any wing aficionado would appreciate. Another menu item I highly recommend is da buffalo shrimp linguini. Da sauce is a fredo/buffalo mix that comes out better then a long shot at da track. I literally could eat dat dish for a year straight and I would still willingly come back for more, its dat good. Tell you what, Frankie ‘knuckles’ was right, for a place wit a quiet rap LA Creole is a nice stop with some amazing food. The website looks like it was the first one ever designed by mankind don’t expect to get any useful information off of here you better off just getting them on da horn.

Prices at LA Creole are fair, nothing outrageously overpriced and drinks are about par with da rest of da area. I didn’t see anything about daily specials or happy hours which is fine wit me since I keep usually get a late start.

Parking down in dis area of Queen Village can outright brutal at times. Not to mention that dis place is located next to a larger restaurant which also sucks up spaces in a otherwise residential neighborhood. Unless you are walkin, take a cab.
