Da Brits say top of da morning to ya, I say top and da whole rest of my belly to ya. Fat Joe here, venturing through thick and thin (well maybe just thick) to bring yous the best reviews about da best Philly eats. In dis installment I got an update about one of my most favorite spots for a great meal…Tori’s restaurant. Lemme tell ya, I reviewed the brickhouse a ways back and cuz it’s got some serious respect from da big man. I have always kept expectations high (much like my blood pressure) for Tori’s, due to their unique blend of Mediterranean and Mexican cuisine. Imagine my dismay after a few months of down time while dey was busy remodeling at their new south street location. What most people find unbelievable, (besides my affinity for food) is dat I used to date dis broad down on south named Maria. To be perfectly honest wit you the relationship went on a little longer then it should have just because of how good Tori’s food is. Listening to someone talk about their job as a diner waitress for four hours is a lot easier to deal wit when you are eating some top notch cuisine. So….I got a few bucks ahead at da track so I took a IROC ride on memory lane to see what’s what wit Tori’s new location. Soon as I cross their threshold, it is apparent to da big man dey have literally gone from a corner bar to da big time restaurant. Tori’s restaurant gained more room in their move to South Street then I did going from 160lbs to 210lbs through adolescence. Da interior is more updated and now has a classier more genuine feel rather than the ole spot not to mention my mom’s kitchen. Along wit both updated size and looks is Tori’s menu has received a facelift that would make even Joan River blush. Most of the classics from the Front street spot have made the trip over to South, but Chef Joe Lazar’s has added a variety of items that will keep me more interested in Tori’s food than the T-tops on my IROC. What’s new and whats old don’t matter to much to me, cuz everything on both menus is outstanding. For real, I have never been let down by a single morsel. Dey also have a large number of wines to select from as well as dessert items and a full bar. Wit dis move dey has really taken their game to the next level. Another reason for da move was dat Tori’s decided to explore their catering room which is great for special occasions or in my opinion a great place to have a late night card game. Der website is well done and very informative so you can see some cool panoramas of the restaurant and take a peak at their menu. All in all, if you are into food like me, love da great taste of da Mediterranean and Mexican dishes, then (fortunately for my ma) Tori’s is a home away from home, cause here you can’t miss.

I mean when I really enjoy a meal it doesn’t matter how much I am spending long as it doesn’t come between me and my IROC. The prices here are a not any higher then other fine dining establishments around South Street, but they take their grub to the next level. At Tori’s I don’t mind droppin a few bucks to get my belly filled with something other then cheesesteaks.

Parking in the south street area isn't is bad as some parts of the city but this isn't the best situation either. During the week might not be so bad but the weekends in da summer forgetaboutit. There are a few lots in the area but they hit you hard for the dough and sometimes when there might be a band on South Street and then it gets mobbed. Tori’s does however provide you wit a valet service on da weekends, so its no big deal.
