Yo cuz, it’s obvious when you see me that I like a meal as much as the next guy. I was parading myself around South Street looking for a few some new 2XL shirts for a date. After a half a block I realized I was famished. Normally, my stomach prefers a few cheesesteaks to quell its seismic activity, but today I was in da mood for somethin else, somethin Mexican. That’s when I decided to grace da Copabanana wit my presence and destroy some spanish fries and wash em down wit some Margaritas. Da Copa has been on south street since 1978 about seven years prior to the first IROC Z . In its most current state da interior to da Copa south location is in da best shape that I can remember. But some of da stuff has been there since day one. Da restaurant space is real cramped especially for a small elephant like me. I had to switch it up three different times before I could figure it out how to wedge my rump in a seat. What I like most about dis seating is that it is located on da corner of south street so you get to sit right in front of the window and do some people watching. In my case, people walking by get to look at me caged like a water buffalo during feeding time. Da service here runs hot and cold, summer time when it’s little busy, the chances of getting good service are about as good as getting a cab that doesn’t smell like body odor. Notfornutin, it usually aint too bad and dis particular time da waitstaff was attentive. Lemme tell you sumtin about da Copa, every time I feast there, I am never disappointed in da food. I recommend startin wit da tortilla soup, which is served wit chicken, some sour cream, some guacamole and cheese. Give it a quick spin wit da spoon, and man dis soup is da best. I also recommend der burgers (which you can customize), spainsh fries and getting a least on a half a load on wit some margaritas. I can think of more than a few times that I have eatin lunch, caught a load, and den ate again before going home to hibernate for da evening. What else I love about dis place is there music selection, de got da best modern rock mixes I have heard in awhile. The only problem wit dis location is that it can get a little cramped if it gets busy. Der website smells of da 90’s although it does provide some useful information about its different locations. All in all I highly recommend checking out da Copabanana, especially is you enjoy food as much as me.
Da prices for the food are about par for da course on da South Street circuit. Entrees and sandwichs are priced reasonably and you really wont see your check jump until you pound 3 – 4 shakers of margaritas. But damn there are worth it though.
Parking around dis particular area of South Street is worse then Mayor Street’s hair. There is a parking lot a block away of if you feel like giving a loan out. Your only other option is to find on street parking which could cause you more agita then consuming too much sour mix.
